Biography

Yaron Herman is a celebrated French-Israeli jazz pianist and composer, widely recognized for his innovative approach to the piano and his ability to blend jazz with influences from classical music, world music, and pop. Born on July 12, 1981, in Tel Aviv, Israel, he initially pursued a career in basketball before an injury led him to the piano at the age of 16. Within just a few years, Herman’s prodigious talent catapulted him into the international music scene.

After studying at the prestigious Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Israel, Yaron moved to Paris, where his career flourished. At 21, he released his debut album, Takes 2 to Know 1, and has since built an impressive discography of critically acclaimed works, including A Time for Everything (2007), Follow the White Rabbit (2010), and Alter Ego (2012). His 2017 album Y showcased his adventurous spirit, fusing jazz with elements of electronic and popular music.

Radio Paradise (2025)

On April 4, 2025, Yaron Herman unveils his highly anticipated album Radio Paradise. After two years of solo touring, Herman returns with an exceptional ensemble, collaborating with some of the finest talents in the contemporary jazz scene. The album features saxophonists María Grand, a rising international star, and Alexandra Grimal, a leading figure in improvised music, alongside Haggai Cohen Milo on bass and longtime collaborator Ziv Ravitz on drums. The project is produced by Daniel Yvinec, adding a distinctive depth to the music.

With Radio Paradise, Herman embarks on a profound exploration of melody, lyricism, and improvisation. The album is a collection of elegant, deeply moving compositions that blend powerful rhythms with a spiritual, heartfelt essence. Reflecting on the creative process, Herman explains:

“When I started working on this album, the first thing that came to my mind was melody. Over the years, I’ve been writing ideas—fragments and motifs—in my notebooks. These eventually grew into songs, but they needed voices beyond the piano. Collaborating with María Grand and Alexandra Grimal brought a mysterious, lyrical quality that truly brought the music to life.”

Herman’s creative vision emphasizes the balance between freedom and structure, describing improvisation as “a quest for the sweet spot between freedom and constraint.” The album’s title, Radio Paradise, symbolizes the reconciliation of opposites and the effortless flow of heartfelt music.
